Neighbors in the News: Palatine CEO named as one of 2022's Top Women Leaders
• Palatine resident Wylecia Wiggs Harris, chief executive officer for the American Health Information Management Association, was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 2022's Top Women Leaders.
The annual program recognizes top women executives who are influencing policy and care delivery models across the country.
This recognition comes on the heels of Modern Healthcare naming Harris a Top Diversity Leader last year. Harris is joined on the Top Women Leaders list by executives from Walgreens Boots Alliance, Kaiser Permanente, MD Anderson Cancer Center and more.
"I'm honored to receive this recognition and grateful to Modern Healthcare for their coverage of our industry," Harris said.
"Women have come a long way since I began my career, but with fewer than 10 percent of Fortune 500 companies led by women CEOs, we need more women represented in board rooms and C-suites."
Harris, who joined AHIMA as CEO in February 2018, previously served as CEO at the League of Women Voters of the United States and the League of Women Voters Education Fund; chief operating officer of the American Nurses Association; executive director of the Center for American Nurses; executive director of the Maryland-based Sister to Sister Foundation; and as senior vice president and executive director at the American Heart Association.
Harris holds a Ph.D. in organizational development from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota; a master of management degree from Northwestern University, Evanston; and both a bachelor and honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio. She is an ASAE-certified association executive.
