West Chicago plan commission delays hearing on proposed subdivision

A developer hoping to build a subdivision southeast of the intersection of Smith Road and Route 59 in West Chicago has received more time to make its case.

On Tuesday, the West Chicago Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals was set to continue an ongoing public hearing and potentially vote on a recommendation either for or against the subdivision. But at the request of Pulte Homes, a nationwide builder with a Schaumburg office, the commission agreed to continue the public hearing to its next meeting, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.

Pulte wants to build 269 single-family homes on an undeveloped 111-acre property currently owned by St. Andrews Golf & Country Club.

The initial public hearing on the proposed subdivision lasted more than three hours on Dec. 15. The public hearing was subsequently continued to following plan commission meetings.
