Northbrook police reports

The following were reported by the Northbrook Police Department, however, it may not include all incidents. Any charges are only accusations, not findings of guilt.

Jan. 28

RETAIL THEFT: DSW, 100 Block Skokie Blvd. Complainant reported that two men in their 30s took several boxes of boots and left the store without paying for the items.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY: Willow & Shermer. Complainant reported that while in traffic, they noticed a vehicle that they believed belonged to a friend and he honked twice at the car. The occupants of the car began yelling at complainant and one occupant exited the vehicle and struck complainants vehicle with their fist.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 2200 Block Maple Ave. Complainant reported that they found the rear door of the residence damaged by unknown subject(s) and open. Complainant related that the residence was rummaged through and did not know what was missing.

Jan. 31

IDENTITY THEFT: 2800 Block Techny Rd. Complainant reported that they received two debit cards in the mail that they did not apply for.

FORGERY: Silver Corner, 1500 Block Lake Cook Rd. Complainant reported that an unknown subject altered and cashed a check that they had written without permission.

RETAIL THEFT: Mariano's, 700 Block Skokie Blvd. Complainant reported that a man wearing a mask exited the store without paying for a bottle of alcohol.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: 600 Block Dundee Rd. Complainant reported that unknown subject(s) removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle.

Feb. 1

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: 3600 Block Woodhead. Complainant reported that unknown subject(s) removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle.

DUI: 1900 Block Waukegan Rd. Charles H. Herndon Jr., 67, of Northbrook, was charged with DUI, failure to reduced speed, transportation of open alcohol and improper lane usage after officers were called to investigate a crash. Bond was set at $1,000; his next court date is scheduled Feb. 25 in Skokie.

RETAIL THEFT: Nordstrom Rack, 100 Block Skokie Ln. Elonda Kim Johnson, 51, of Mankato, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with retail theft. She is accused of concealing three items and exiting the store without paying for them. Bond was set at $1,000; she was released after posting bail.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 700 Block Charlemagne Dr. Complainant reported that after shoveling snow they went inside of their residence to rest. After resting, complainant stated that two men were inside the residence. Complainant stated that they pushed the two subjects out of the residence and the two men left in a truck.

Feb. 2

THEFT: 60 Block Revere Dr. Complainant reported that unknown subject(s) removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle.

Feb. 3

THEFT: 1800 Block Raymond. Complainant reported unknown subject(s) removed a black purse that contained credit cards from a table.

THEFT: Optics Planet, 3100 Block Commercial Ave. Complainant reported that a customer had made a purchase and returned several items to complainant's company. Complainant stated that the customer was sent an upgraded item and in return, the customer was to return the latest product that they purchased. Complainant stated that the customer returned something other than their product.
