Wednesday night blaze destroys Addison home's garage

A late-night fire Wednesday destroyed the detached garage of an Addison home, but firefighters kept the blaze from spreading, allowing residents to return to the house.

Firefighters were called to the house on the 400 block of Natalie Lane just before 10:20 p.m. after receiving calls from neighbors and the residents of the home.

Firefighters reported fire showing throughout the garage structure with exposure to another adjacent garage. The house suffered minor heat damage, officials said.

It took nearly 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, with efforts somewhat hampered because of the extreme cold, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The garage, which collapsed, was deemed a total loss. Damage was estimated at $75,000.

The residents were allowed to return to their home just before 1 a.m., fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
