Sorry if mayor's thinking of run for governor

As a lifelong resident of Aurora, I've experienced the highs and lows with our city. Lately, I've been pleased to see the investments Gov. Pritzker has made into our community. I know I am not alone when I say I was confused to hear that Mayor Irvin may run against Gov. Pritzker - someone who has been a partner to us over the last several years.

I was especially disappointed to hear that Irvin was weighing a run not because Aurorans asked him to, but because billionaire Ken Griffin told him to. If Irvin is seeking statewide office because the man who bankrolled Bruce Rauner will cut him a check, I will be seriously questioning his ethics and sincerity.

Rauner disinvested in and overlooked Aurora. Social services were cut, and he left our most vulnerable neighbors with nowhere to turn. It would be a major disappointment to think that Mayor Irvin has chosen to align himself with Griffin. If Irvin decides to run for Governor with Griffin calling the shots, no one will take him seriously - myself included.
