DCC Propane expands again in Kentucky

LISLE - Propane retailer DCC Propane LLC, recently increased its footprint in the Bluegrass State with the acquisition of Greenwell's Propane Gas, a propane supplier located 30 miles south of Louisville in Taylorsville, Kentucky.

The addition of Greenwell's comes less than a year after Lisle-based DCC purchased the Paducah, Kentucky-based United Propane Gas. Acquiring Greenwell's will add another 2,600 customers for DCC, bringing the total number it serves in Kentucky to more than 31,500, the company said.

As part of the deal, DCC has acquired two properties in Taylorsville. The larger property includes a business office. The second houses four, 30,000-gallon bulk tanks, a shed and a concrete filling dock. Seven Greenwell's employees will join the DCC team as part of the acquisition, said DCC Propane CEO Matt Dantinne.

Greenwell's was founded in the late 1940s by brothers Henry and Paul Greenwell. Henry's daughter, Jennifer Baxter, was Greenwell's general manager and said while it was difficult to part with the business her father and uncle started more than 75 years ago, she is confident she is leaving her customers and employees in good hands.

Founded in 1962, DCC Propane employs more than 900 people in 22 states.
