Why does Dion mock the red, white and blue?

I enjoy reading Marc Munroe Dion's columns because he is such a curmudgeon.

However, his leftist perspective always shines through his cleverly written prose.

Case in point: Dion mocks Fox News' All-American Christmas tree. Why? I guess because the tree (decorated in red, white and blue) reflects patriotism and love of country. How terrible.

Dion also says that "patriotism, like black lace underwear, has its place." That's just plain weird.

One other question for Dion: He refers to Fox News as a right-wing television network. Does he refer to CNN and MSNBC as left-wing television networks?
