St. Mark ready to sing at in-person services on Christmas Eve

St. Mark Lutheran Church will be singing all your favorites during its Christmas Eve services this year.

After a year off from in-person services, the church choir is ready to sing the songs of the season at the 4 and 10 p.m. services Christmas Eve at the church, 200 S. Wille St., Mount Prospect. Along with congregational singing, there will be a vocal choir, bell choir and organ music.

"Music is such an important part of worship, especially at Christmas. Our congregation missed the chance to sing together last year. We are pulling out all the stops this year, and can't wait to cherish this opportunity come this Christmas Eve," said Deacon David Webb.

Music is just a part of the joy planned for these services. The story of Jesus' birth will be read. The 4 p.m. worship will feature a living Nativity with young people from the congregation. The 10 p.m. worship will highlight poems and writings to help reflect on the story of Jesus' birth. Communion (individually packaged) will be available at both services. Each service concludes with a candle lighting.

"It's Christmas Eve like it used to be, like it was meant to be, with carols and community and abundant joy," said the Rev. Christie Webb.

Masks will be required for all participants and social distancing is encouraged.

St. Mark will livestream the 4 p.m. service on its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/StMarkLutheranIL, and post it and a prerecorded Christmas Day service to its YouTube channel, tinyurl.com/stmarkmpyoutube.
