Mount Prospect Natives Release New Children's Book

Mount Prospect native Colleen Reding Mearn's first children's book A to Z Baby Poetry has been published with Bauer Books. With a charming poem for each letter of the alphabet, this book celebrates life with family's newest addition. Since launching just a few weeks ago, it has already hit Amazon's #1 New Release in Baby and Toddler Poetry books for Amazon Kindle.

A to Z Baby Poetry was illustrated by another Mount Prospect native Elizabeth Dix, a writer and illustrator now based in Los Angeles California. The two met at St. Raymond de Penafort, attended Prospect High School, and both worked behind the counter at Capannari Ice Cream - they still have slightly stronger right arms as scooper proof.

"I could not have been more thrilled to get to work with Colleen on this wonderful book," Ms. Dix says. "At the time of development, I was in the process of becoming a licensed foster mom and it was like getting to experience little windows of everything you feel becoming a new parent. Colleen's ability to so sweetly wrap up these tiny pocket moments of life with a new baby is beautiful, humorous, delightful, and makes you feel like you have another mama right by your side."
