Electronic recycling event set for Saturday

The city of Wheaton is holding its monthly electronic recycling event Saturday.

The drop-off event will allow people to get rid of holiday lights, electronics, scrap metals, fluorescent tube bulbs, microwaves and other small kitchen appliances.

The collection is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Storage Yard, 820 W. Liberty Drive (near the Wheaton Police Department).

Textiles should be placed in a clean plastic bag, and small electronics should be disposed of in a cardboard box. People should place all items in the trunk of their cars, and volunteers will retrieve them.

Televisions can be recycled for a $25 to $35 fee paid in cash or in advance through the e-Works website at recycling.eworksesi.org.

For a full list of accepted items, visit the city's website at wheaton.il.us/electronics.
