Glendale Heights woman charged with selling fake designer clothing, accessories

A Glendale Heights woman has pleaded not guilty to charges she possessed more than $140,000 worth of counterfeit designer clothing and accessories with intent to sell them.

Angelina Luy, 40, of the 700 block of Leslie Lane, was arrested Nov. 1, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's Office. She is free on $4,000 bond.

Customs and Border Protection officers at O'Hare International Airport took possession Oct. 24 of two packages from Cambodia addressed to Luy. The declared value was $374, according to the news release.

The officers found belts, purses, wallets and clothing bearing trademarks registered to Chanel, Christian Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Moschino and Versace. They had a retail value of about $140,176.

When Homeland Security investigators searched Luy's home, they found hundreds of counterfeit items bearing those trademarks, plus Piaget, and more than $96,000 in cash, the news release said.

Authorities allege Luy has been selling counterfeit merchandise since January, at a total value of more than $500,000.

Luy's next court date is Jan. 12.
