Massive free turkeys given away at Maine Township hosted by Empowering Women NFP and Care and Cure.

Thanksgiving just a few days away, there was a massive turkey giveaway in Maine Township on Saturday November 20th, 2021.

Empowering Women NFP and Care and Cure came together and hosted a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, donating 250 turkeys, along with pantry items to the members of the Maine Town community. Organizing volunteers Teams worked more than a month for this program and several donors stepped forward to donate Several items and Turkey.

"Since Pandemic started families have been having tight financial times to celebrate the holiday. We organized this program to help our community, this is the first time we are doing this kind of program for our town" Asif Malik, Maine Town Trustee said.

"During this Difficult time, we wanted our neighbors to have Thanksgiving dinner on their tables. We just need to give back to our community," Manoj Jakhar said. She is the President of Care & Cure non-profit organization; they are a Well-known Charity organization that provides humanitarian services across Illinois. Their mission is providing service to humanity with integrity.

"COVID-19 causing people to lose their jobs and communities to suffer through more Domestic Violence and mental health problems than ever before, Our Organization Empowering Women NFP Helping community all over in the state of Illinois,"Arshia Hasnain (Founder and Executive Director of Empowering Women NFP) said. Empowering Women NFP is a well-known Chicago based non-profit. Their mission is to "break the cycle of Domestic Violence by providing the necessary services in and around Chicago. The organization provides immediate short-term shelter, counseling, legal help, job skills training, placement and holistic workshops, basic health needs and life coaching skills.

The giveaway started at 11 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. Volunteers from many organizations, including Empowering Women NFP and Care, Cure and entire team of Islamic community center, Des Plaines made over Hundreds of bags to hand out on Saturday to those in need, but the overwhelming response of the community they ran out of the supplies in a couple hours. Senator Laura M. Murphy, Mayor of Des Plaines Andrew Goczkowski, Maine Township Supervisor Karen Dimond along with her elected team joined free turkeys given away at Maine Township town hall parking hall.
