COVID-19 outbreak tied to Algonquin restaurant

An Algonquin restaurant has closed due to an outbreak of COVID-19, the McHenry County Department of Health said Friday.

The outbreak at Eat at Syrup, 2555 Bunker Hill Road, is under investigation, the department said.

The health department said it did not yet know how many cases were linked to the restaurant.

The restaurant is cooperating with the health department and has voluntarily closed, the department said.

Anyone who has worked at or visited the restaurant or is in close contact with someone who worked at or visited this establishment from Nov. 1 to Friday and has any COVID-19 symptoms is encouraged to get tested.

A close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of a COVID-19 patient for at least 15 minutes.
