Wheaton police collecting donations for DuPage animal shelter

Wheaton police will hold a "Stuff the Squad" event next week to collect supplies for a DuPage County animal shelter.

The police department aims to fill a squad car full of donated items needed by DuPage County Animal Services. The county department cares for nearly 3,000 animals every year.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at police headquarters, 900 W. Liberty Drive.

Contactless donations can be placed directly into the squad car. A drop box in the lobby also will be available Wednesday if you're unable to drop off items during the event hours.

Needed items include: new or gently used blankets and comforters; top-loading pet carriers; small animal baby bottles; freedom no-pull harnesses (sizes large and x-large) and freedom leashes; powdered kitten milk replacement formula; canned adult dog and cat food (any brand) and cleaning supplies such as paper towels and disinfecting wipes.
