Give the gift of life at Roselle Lions' blood drive Nov. 17

The Roselle Lions Club will be hosting its third blood drive of the year on Wednesday, Nov. 17, from noon until 5 p.m. The event will be held at the Roselle American Legion Hall, 344 E. Maple in Roselle.

The Lions Club's first two blood drives collected enough blood to help close to 100 persons in need of blood or plasma. The success of the first two drives, the goal of 40 donors was surpassed by 20, caused the Lions to agree to have the drive.

According to officials from the collecting agency, Versiti Blood Centers, one donation can save as many as three lives. Donating blood is good for the donor too. They get a free pulse, blood pressure temperature and hemoglobin level tests prior to donating. Donating also benefits a donor's emotional and physical health as well. Versiti also said there is a drastic need for donors since the pandemic has decreased the number of persons willing to give a pint of blood.

Persons wishing to donate can make a reservation online at bit.ly/BloodDrive-11-17-21. Walk in donors are also welcome but there could be a delay in beginning their donation.

Donors should plan to eat a low fat meal and drink extra water prior to arrival at the Legion Post. They should wear a short sleeve garment and can bring along music for their listening pleasure.
