Bears injury report: Khalil Mack ruled out for Sunday's game vs. 49ers

The Bears have officially ruled outside linebacker Khalil Mack out for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Mack has been nursing a foot injury for a month.

The 30-year-old, six-time Pro Bowler has not missed a game since Nov. 4, 2018. He has missed only two games his entire career.

Mack did not practice at all this week.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said the Bears haven't made any decision on if they will put Mack on injured reserve. Doing so requires a three-game absence.

Mack had been off to one of the hottest starts of his career, recording 6 sacks in seven games.

"Keeping Khalil out for this weekend, he obviously would love to be able to go," Nagy said Friday. "We'll continue to work through that situation."

In other injury news, safety Tashaun Gipson (hip), return specialist Jakeem Grant (ankle), defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (groin), outside linebacker Sam Kamara (knee) and tight end Jesper Horsted (knee) are all listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Only Gipson was limited in practice Friday, the others were all full participants.

COVID-19 update: The Bears activated two players from the COVID-19 reserve list, while placing another onto the list.

Outside linebacker Robert Quinn and offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson have been activated from COVID-19 reserve. Both are now available for Sunday's game.

Meanwhile, offensive tackle Germain Ifedi, who has been out for several weeks with a knee injury, went on COVID-19 reserve Friday. I

fedi is the sixth Bears player to go on the COVID-19 list since Oct. 14.

Additionally, wide receivers coach Mike Furrey and head coach Matt Nagy have missed time due to COVID-19 protocols. Currently, Nagy remains away from the team after announcing he had tested positive for the coronavirus Monday.

Nagy said his status for Sunday's game remains uncertain.
