Sewer work leads to Scott Street closure in Wheaton
A portion of Scott Street near downtown Wheaton will be closed to through traffic for roughly a week starting Monday so construction crews can replace a sewer main.
The closure on Scott will run from Front Street to Seminary Avenue. The existing sewer main is near the end of its useful life, city officials say. The project is part of a capital improvement plan designed to increase the sanitary sewer system's capacity during wet weather conditions.
Short-term detours will be in place during construction with Scott Street opening to traffic after 4 p.m. each day.
