VIA expands manufacturing workforce initiatives with GCAMP Acquisition

Valley Industrial Association in Geneva is pleased to announce their expansion of manufacturing workforce development by acquiring the Golden Corridor Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, or GCAMP, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that works with schools to promote manufacturing careers and to create a sustainable manufacturing workforce.

Rebranded as the Greater Chicago Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, the organization will now serve the expanded area under the VIA.

"We are excited to have GCAMP as part of the VIA family. Our mission is to help companies through their challenges, and workforce is one of their biggest challenges. We are looking forward to bringing what GCAMP is doing in the Golden Corridor to the larger area that VIA serves," said Kathy Gilmore, president of Valley Industrial Association.

Kathleen Burley, executive director of GCAMP and the new vice president of Education & Workforce Development for VIA, states that the additional support with VIA will strengthen the developing workforce initiatives in the region.

The Valley Industrial Association is a trade association for manufacturers, distributors, and industrial companies and those that support them in the Chicago area. Founded in the Fox Valley area in 1902, the VIA's mission is to be a value-added partner to its members; providing strategic resources, relevant educational programming and networking opportunities that help members meet or exceed their business objectives. The Greater Chicago Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, NFP is formerly known as The Golden Corridor Advanced Manufacturing Partnership. The 501(c)3 nonprofit's mission is to work toward creating a sustainable manufacturing workforce in the Greater Chicago Region. GCAMP is a coalition of area manufacturers, educators at all levels, trade associations, workforce boards, and municipal economic developers that support activities through grant sponsorship for educational programs and hands on work-based learning to promote advanced manufacturing as a solid career pathway.
