Sox HOF Frank Thomas heads group taking over 'Field of Dreams' movie site

White Sox Hall of Famer Frank Thomas is heading a group that purchased Go the Distance Baseball LLC.

The deal was announced Thursday, giving Thomas and Co. a controlling interest in the ownership of All-Star Ballpark Heaven and the "Field of Dreams" movie site in Dyersville, Iowa.

Thomas is set as chief executive officer. Dan Evans, a former Sox assistant general manager before becoming the Dodgers' GM, will serve as chief operating officer.

The White Sox and Yankees played the first "Field of Dreams" game in Iowa this season, and the Cubs and Reds are scheduled to play in the game next year.
