Step to it: Virtual Hero Hustle begins Oct. 2

Registration is open for the 24th Hero Hustle Step Challenge, a virtual event that challenges entrants to move the equivalent of more than 10,000 steps per day between Oct. 2-9.

A device such as a Fit Bit or smartphone is required in order to track steps. Registrants will receive an email explaining how to download and use the Hero Hustle app. Participants can plot their own course, or use a layout at a park such as The Grove, Gallery Park or Flick Park.

Participants who register at least 90,000 steps are eligible for raffle prizes including a golf pass, pool pass and restaurant and business gift certificates.

The Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise, Character Counts! of Glenview, Glenview Professional Firefighters Association Local 4186 and the Glenview Police Department support the Hero Hustle. Registration is only $25, and it raises funds for the Community Grants Program, which supports local causes and initiatives.

To register, and for more information including possible paths in local parks, visit herohustle.com.
