Explore Wheaton's mid-century modern architecture by bike

A bicycle tour of mid-century modern architecture will pedal across Wheaton next week.

The city's bicycle and historic commissions have organized the 7.5-mile, docent-led bike tour. The free event will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.

The tour will showcase homes designed by mid-century modern architects Paul Schweikher, Winston Elting, Edward Dart, Charles Goodman, Ralph Rapson, John Van der Meulen, Maxwin Heimann and Harry Harmon, among others.

The tour group will meet at 2 p.m. at the bike racks by the west side of the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St.

All riders must provide their own bicycle and wear a helmet during the tour. Bicyclists also must bring a signed waiver to the event.

A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for children. Kids also must be accompanied by an adult rider.
