Northbrook Park District lifeguards receive high marks in skill audits

In two recent unannounced service audits, Northbrook Park District staff members at Meadowhill Aquatic Center received two overall five-star ratings, the highest available rating.

The Northbrook Park District Aquatics Department works with StarGuard Elite, an aquatic risk prevention agency that is internationally recognized for its elite training, certification, and consulting programs serving lifeguards, management, attraction attendants and more. Throughout the pool season, StarGuard Elite performs external lifeguard and facility operations audits at random, unannounced times. These audits are conducted by third party observers who perform lifeguard and supervisor observations, conduct skill and scenario assessments, and make observations regarding the overall facility and its operations.

Along with these overall five-star ratings, various staff members earned specific five-star ratings during observations and scenarios. One of the audits specifically noted: "The staff did an amazing job! The scans are top notch and each lifeguard made sure that they were changing positions and checking the extremes of the zones. The scenarios also went very well! The staff did an excellent job and it shows that they are all well trained. Great job!"

In addition, according to Jessica Gray of StarGuard Elite, "The lifeguards are professional and vigilant at all times, supervisors are on deck providing direct supervision and feedback to the lifeguards. Their CPR, first aid and lifeguarding skills are also exceptional. The facility and documentation go above and beyond what is required. The aquatic team at Northbrook has gone above and beyond to create a safe and friendly environment for Northbrook residents and everyone visiting the facilities."
