Shredding event

Northfield Township recycling program hosts a paper shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the road district garage, 237 Melvin Drive, Northbrook. The regular recycling program runs 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Oct. 29. For details, visit northfieldtownship.com.

Caregiver series

The Savvy Caregiver, a six-week educational series for caregivers of a person with memory loss, runs 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Aug. 26-Sept. 30, at the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield. Topics include managing daily life, types and progression of dementia, defining your role, taking control, handling difficult behaviors and finding helpful resources.
