White Sox's Jimenez enjoyed hitting against 'really good friend' Alzolay

Before he was traded from the Cubs to the Sox four years ago, Eloy Jimenez was teammates with Adbert Alzolay in the minor leagues.

Jimenez, the Sox's left fielder/DH and Alzolay, a starter for the Cubs, played together with the Rookie League Cubs and at Eugene, South Bend and Myrtle Beach.

"After I got traded, we kept in touch," Jimenez said. "He's my brother, besides baseball. He's a really, really good friend of mine. We were always talking about this kind of day and (Saturday) was the first day we faced each other for the first time after I got traded. It was fun."

Alzolay pitched very well in the Cubs' 4-0 loss to the White Sox, allowing 2 runs in 6⅔ innings.

Jimenez had 2 hits off Alzolay but the second was scored a double on a flyball Ian Happ dropped in right field.

"He was good," Jimenez said.
