House damaged by fire in Mount Prospect

A weekend fire left a house in Mount Prospect uninhabitable.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which was which was reported about 11:20 p.m. Saturday in a split-level house on the 1500 block of Mark Drive. The house was equipped with working smoke detectors and two residents escaped safely, Deputy Fire Chief Tom Wang said.

Smoke was coming from the eaves of the house when firefighters arrived. The blaze may have started in a crawl space.

Crews from several area fire department assisted.

The fire was under control about 12:25 a.m. Sunday.

The fire likely was accidental, Wang said. It's under investigation.
