Lake in the Hills' Rockin' Rotary Ribfest features same great tastes

The Lake in the Hills Rockin' Rotary Ribfest will look a little different this year, but the same great tastes and smells of barbecue and laughter from the carnival midway will be the same.

The annual festival is again in Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road. It starts Thursday, July 8, and continues through Sunday. The difference this year is the Windy city Amusements carnival rides and midway are set up away from the food and music. The carnival has moved to the east, with parking between it and the rib booths and music stage. All of it is still in Sunset Park.

Eight rib vendors from Ohio, Kentucky, Texas and Georgia will be ready to serve their best version of ribs, and several bands will play each day.

On Thursday, rock band Modern Day Romeos will be the headliner. On Friday, Boy Band Night will perform after an Elton John tribute band. Saturday's music lineup will be headlined by Steve Augeri, the former lead singer of Journey who performed and recorded with the group from 1998 to 2006. Sunday's headliner will be local rock band 7th heaven.

Admission is $5 for adults; children 11 and younger get in free. The festival is open Thursday from 4:30 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
