Mount Prospect Historical Society seeks volunteers for variety of tasks
The Mount Prospect Historical Society is preparing to reopen its doors for tours and other events this September.
It is in need of volunteers willing to lead tours; help with preservation and storage of photos, artifacts and documents; staff events for both adults and children; oversee facility rentals and more.
If you need service hours or simply want to work with your fellow community members to assist a great public entity, visit the Mount Prospect Historical Society website, www.mtphist.org/volunteer, and fill out the Volunteer Application, which will assess both your areas of interest and your time availability.
You will then be contacted by a society representative to discern the next steps.
"We hope that many people of different ages and talents step up to offer their assistance to the society moving forward," said Deb Rittle, society president. "We can't wait to welcome the public back to our campus and our many annual events."
The Mount Prospect Historical Society is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. The society continues to follow available information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Any changes to the event schedule will be communicated via the website, email and social media.
The Mount Prospect Historical Society is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that is committed to preserving the history of Mount Prospect through artifacts, photographs and both oral and written memories of current and former residents and businesspeople.
On its campus, in the heart of the village, the society maintains the 1906 Dietrich Friedrichs house museum, carriage house, Dolores Haugh Education Center and the 1896 one-room Central School.
