Pain-free Fry thrilled be back in Sox's bullpen

Relief pitcher Jace Fry was on some pretty bad Sox teams from 2017-19.

Now he's on a first-place team after being activated off the injured list.

"It's awesome to be a part of a World Series caliber team, to know that you just don't fit in on a rebuild team but you can also have an impact on a competing team," Fry said.

The left-hander began the current season on the IL while recovering from a microdiscectomy performed in early January. He pitched in 13 rehab games with Triple-A Charlotte and allowed 3 earned runs in 14 innings.

"There's no more nerve pain, which was the main issue," Fry said. "There would be pitches where I would drive my leg, drive toward home plate and I'd have that nerve pain down my leg and now that's completely gone. Now it's just getting the feeling back of power that I had the years prior to 2020."
