Northbrook in 60 seconds

Granny flats, etc.

The Northbrook Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20.

Currently village government is considering whether or not to allow ADUs in Northbrook single-family residential units. They can take several forms - attached or unattached spaces, above garages, etc. The village most recently discussed them at a Village Board meeting May 25, video of which is available by visiting northbrookil.iqm2.com and looking up May 25 meeting in "past meetings."

The July 20 Plan Commission meeting can be attended at Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane, or viewed on NCTV Channel 17 and also online on a village website at the time of the meeting.

The Plan Commission will be presented with a summary on ADUs, plus the current regulations that prohibit them in Northbrook.

Members of the public may also comment on the subject; if not in-person, comments may be emailed to Michaela Kohlstedt, director of Planning & Services, at michaela.kohlstedt@northbrook.il.us.

The meeting agenda will be posted no later than July 16.
