Westmont celebrating its centennial with Fourth of July fireworks

Westmont's Independence Day Celebration returns to Ty Warner Park on Sunday, July 4.

"This year, Westmont turns 100, and we are planning a very special fireworks display to help celebrate," said Mayor Ron Gunter. "Our Independence Day Celebration fireworks are going to be bigger and better than ever before."

To commemorate its centennial and celebrate this historic event, the village's 100th Anniversary Committee has made a contribution to enhance the spectacular show.

This year's event will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. at Ty Warner Park, 800 Blackhawk Drive. It will feature kids crafts and games during the afternoon, food trucks available throughout the event, concessions, live music in the evening, and the fireworks display beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Free games and crafts for kids, age 4 to 12, will be offered from 4 to 6:30 p.m. There will be roaming entertainers from 5 to 7 p.m.

Grand Avenue Big Band will perform traditional Big Band Music from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m.

To help celebrate Westmont's 100th, Whiskey Hill Brewing Co. is bringing back their popular Westmont Centennial Amber Ale, for one day only!

Beer tokens for this special brew will be available for purchase at the ticket tent, and Whiskey Hill will be present to pour. As usual, other beer and alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase, as well as nonalcoholic refreshments and concessions at the Backstop.

The list of food truck includes: WoogieRolls (egg roll variations); Dope Sandwich Food Truck (sandwiches); Lil'Deb's Mobile Eats (sandwiches); 2TwistedChefs (Asian/Cajun fusion); Zazzo's Pizza;

and Lincoln Land Kettle Corn.

The Illinois Department of Public Health will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from 4 to 8 p.m. during the event.

Walk-ins will be accepted on-site but can greatly increase wait times. Register in advance at prism.org/tywarner. The clinic will be near the first aid tent at the southeast entrance of Ty Warner Park. They expect to have 100 doses.

Major funding for this event is provided in part by The Westmont Auto Mile, Village of Westmont and the Westmont Park District. The event is subject to any applicable state, Illinois Department of Public Health, and Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity guidance and safety measures in place at that time.
