Start the Holiday Weekend with Liberty Loop 5K and Kids Fun Run

Make the Northbrook Park District's Liberty Loop 5K and Liberty Lap Fun Run part of your 4th of July weekend festivities.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road. The Liberty Loop offers participants a scenic walk or run on a certified 5K course. Medals will be awarded to top finishers. Participants receive a dry-fit T-shirt and gift bag.

Children ages 4-10 are invited to join the Liberty Lap Fun Run for junior joggers from 9-10 a.m. The course starts and finishes at the same location as the 5K and winds along the Trail Through Time. Young runners receive a T-shirt, gift bag and miniature American flag.

A post-race party for all participants features the awards ceremony, yoga, photo opportunities, carnival games and candy count contests on the turf field.

"We are so excited to have the Liberty Loop back in person this year," said Recreation Supervisor Cameron Edelman. "This is a great way to start Independence Day weekend and a chance to enjoy an active summer tradition!"

Registration fee for the Liberty Loop is $20 for ages 6 to 12 and $30 for ages 13 and older. The Liberty Lap registration fee is $10.

Online and in-person registration for both races ends at 5 p.m. Friday, July 2. Race packet pickup is available from 1-6 p.m. July 2, at Techny Prairie Activity Center, located at 180 Anets Drive in Techny Prairie Park and Fields. As an added bonus, tour the new TPAC facility and receive an entry into a fee raffle. No race day registration is available.
