Glenview library's Tent Week offers activities for all ages

Tent Week, with pop-up activities for everyone, runs Sunday, June 13, through Saturday, June 19, at the Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Road, under the big tent on the South Patio, weather permitting. For details, visit glenviewpl.org or call (847) 729-7500. Limited space available on a first-come, first-served basis. Weather permitting. Subject to COVID-19 safety guidelines. Funded by a grant from the GPL Foundation.

Sunday

• Thomas Comerford Live, 2 to 3 p.m., for adults and teens: Performing selections from his solo records, including his fourth album "Introverts" that will be released June 18, Comerford's songs and singing compare favorably to Jeff Tweedy, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, and the Go-Betweens. Drop-in.

Monday

• Good Reads for the Summer, 10 to 11 a.m., for adults and teens: Register for the Adult/Teen Summer Reading Challenge and pick up a free advance reading copy of upcoming new releases. Drop in.

• Spirelli String Art, 2 to 3 p.m., for grades 3 through 8: Learn the Spirelli Technique to create unique geometric designs. Registration required.

• DIY Summer Tote Bag, 4 to 5 p.m., for all ages: Decorate a summer tote with screen print designs and other DIY techniques. Drop in.

• Family Trivia Night, 7 to 8:30 p.m., for ages 7 and older: Can you beat the heat? Four rounds of sizzling hot trivia await you. Prizes awarded to the top team. Drop in.

Tuesday

• Bubbling Lava Lamp, 1 to 1:30 p.m., grades 1 through 5: Make your own lava lamp and watch a chemical reaction bubble before your eyes. Registration required.

• Laser Engrave Your Drawing, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., for adults and teens: Use art markers to make intricate drawings that can be laser engraved on a wide variety of materials. Drop in.

• Introduction to Zentangle, 7 to 8:30 p.m., for adults and teens: Encourage both creativity and calm in this introduction to the Zentangle method of drawing. Create beautiful images through structured patterns. No experience required. Supplies limited. Drop in.

Wednesday

• WITS Workout Sampler, 10 to 11 a.m., for seniors: Brain Exercise Class for older adults. A fun and engaging "pen-and-paper" class designed to maintain and enhance brain health. Drop in.

• Washi Tape Planter, 1 to 2 p.m., for grades 5 through 12: Decorate a plant pot with washi tape and create a craft stick flower! Drop in.

• Essentials of Photography, 6 to 7 p.m., for adults and teens: Learn basic manual operation and composition for any camera - from DSLR to smartphones. Drop in.

Thursday

• Tech Tutoring, 10 a.m. to noon, for adults and teens: Ask the experts! Get your technology questions answered or learn about the library's many downloadable collections. Drop in.

• Rock Painting, 1 to 2 p.m., for grades 1 through 5: Paint a unique design on a colored rock to take home. Drop in.

• Custom Creative Fashion Design, 3 to 4 p.m., for adults and teens: Customize your clothing with sewing, digital embroidery, and vinyl cutting machines. Drop in.

• Summer Reading Challenge Signup, from 6 to 8 p.m. for adults and teens: Sign up for the Adult/Teen Summer Reading Challenge and spin the wheel for a chance to win special giveaways. Drop in.

Friday

• Intro to Tai Chi & Kigong, 2 to 3 p.m., for adults and teens: Improve your flexibility, strength, circulation, and alignment as an instructor from Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi guides you through breathing exercises to relax your body and clear your mind, followed by Tai Chi postures and flowing kigong movements. Beginners welcome. Drop in.

• Show & Tell, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., for adults and teens: The library has more than just books and movies. View many of the unique items in the Library of Things collection and explore some of the creative equipment in the Innovation Center. Drop in.

• Vinyl Sounds, 6 to 7 p.m., for all ages: Listen to selections from the library's new vinyl LP collection. Drop in.

Saturday

• Still Life Drawing, from 1 to 3 p.m., for adults and teens: Create a still life drawing with the Glenview School of Arts. All materials provided. Drop in.
