Glenview Gardeners host a plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon June 12 in the parking lot at 2328 Central Road, at the corner of Central and Shermer roads. Go Bearfoot

The Kiwanis Club of Glenview/Northbrook is again presenting its Bearfoot Concert Series and Little Bearfoot Children's Concerts. There will be seven Wednesday night concerts and two Thursday morning children's concerts this summer.

One already passed, but Dancing Queen, is the next, June 16 with advance tickets required. Future concerts from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Jackman Park Gazebo, 1930 Prairie St., are: Final Say, June 23; Ethan Bell Band, June 30; The Wayouts, July 7; Serendipity, July 14; and Four C Notes, July 28.

The Little Bearfoot concerts, 10:30 a.m. at Gallery Park Amphitheatre, 2400 Chestnut Ave., are: Scribble Monster, July 8; and Miss Jamie's Farm, July 22. Parking is available at Attea Middle School.

In case of inclement weather the family and children's concerts may be moved to Park Center's Lakeview Room, 2400 Chestnut Ave. People may call (847) 724-3337 after 6 p.m. the day of the concert to check the status.

The first two Bearfoot concerts are limited to an attendance of 150 people under COVID Bridge Phase restrictions. Should Illinois and Cook County move to Phase 5 Park District staff will reassess capacity limits and reservations for future concerts.

For the animals

Join Heartland Animal Shelter's Walk of Love, a virtual fundraiser, on June 13. Registration is $30, $15 for ages 3 to 12, free for kids 2 and younger; $90 for a family of up to four people. It includes a Walk of Love T-shirt, goody bag while supplies last, scavenger hunt, a 50/50 raffle and raffle tickets. Proceeds benefit Heartland, 2975 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook, a no-kill shelter. Acquisition finalized

As reported by Stockhouse.com, on May 31 the First Busey Corporation finalized its acquisition of Cummins-American Corp., the holding company for Glenview State Bank. The acquisition had initially been announced on Jan. 19. Based on figures as of May 28, the aggregate transaction value was about $187 million.

Glenview State Bank should merge with Champaign-based Busey in the second half of 2021, Stockhouse reported.

Founded in 1921, Glenview State Bank employs 150 associates in seven branch locations: four in Glenview, and in Northbrook, Northfield and Mt. Prospect, Stockhouse said.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and Glencoe are sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection event by appointment only from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12, at the Glencoe Southeast Metra commuter parking lot, 290 Park Avenue. This free event is open to all Illinois residents for personal residential household waste only - no business, farm, industrial or municipal waste.

Thinking ahead for the holidays

Members of the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe can start buying tickets June 10 for the annual Lightscape, scheduled to run Nov. 12 through Jan. 2. Tickets go on sale to the public on June 17. Standard tickets cost $24 for adults, $12 for children 3 and older for members; $14-26 for others. Premium tickets cost $26 for adults and $13 for children; $15 to $28 for others. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $2 more. Parking is included in a membership, but for others costs $10 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Flex tickets, which allow customers to pick a date but arrive between 4:30 and 9 p.m., cost $75 and include parking. Children younger than 3 are admitted free. • The North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic is moving to 3500 Western Avenue, Unit 2, Highland Park, on Monday, June 28. The clinic expects to be operational on Thursday, July 1. Police report of the week

Northfield Police on June 4 spoke with a Winnetka resident who said that at about 10 p.m. on June 1 their cat got out of the house, was bitten and taken away by two coyotes.
