'Paint the Peonies' at Schaumburg's Schweikher House June 19

The historic Schweikher House in Schaumburg will host award-winning artist Maggie Capettini for a plein air painting session from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 19.

Other artists can join Capettini in painting the stunning peony collection at the house. She will demonstrate how she combines brushwork, knife painting and oil pigment sticks in painting large plein air paintings.

Participants will then have the opportunity to begin their own plein air paintings, and Capettini will give feedback throughout the session.

Participants must bring their own supplies. All painting media is welcome. There will be no rain date.

The signup is at eventbrite.com/e/paint-the-peonies-schweikher-house-tickets-157848325591.

The Schweikher House was constructed in 1938 as Modernist architect Paul Schweikher's home and studio. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the American Institute of Architects top 200 architectural sites in Illinois.

The entrance to the Schweikher House, 645 S. Meacham Road, is a long gravel driveway along the east side of Meacham Road. The driveway can be spotted by a bright white mailbox next to the gap in the guardrail.
