Collins gets caught up behind plate for Sox

Zack Collins caught Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals and he was back behind the plate Wednesday afternoon.

Manager Tony La Russa said the decision had nothing to do with No. 1 catcher Yasmani Grandal's health.

"(Collins) is young, strong, he's been rested," La Russa said. "I think it's a good challenge for him, plus (Grandal) will catch the next three."

Carlos Rodon started Wednesday, and Collins has been his primary catcher this season.

"You factor that in, but the ideal thing you want and what we have going is the preparation with both the catchers with any pitcher," La Russa said. "I think you have to be careful that you don't marry one catcher to a pitcher because somewhere down the road in a big game, the guy's not available."
