With crowd size expanding, Sox announce mask policy
If Monday night's crowd at Guaranteed Rate Field sounded louder, it was.
Two weeks ago, the White Sox got the green light to expand seating capacity from 20% to 60% starting with the first game of the homestand against the Cardinals.
The COVID-19 related decision increases maximum crowd size from 8,393 to 24,300.
"The more fans the better is how I view it," Lucas Giolito said. "Our fans are loud and they get into the game."
Before playing St. Louis Monday, the Sox announced fans who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings throughout the ballpark.
For vaccinated fans, masks and face coverings are recommended but not required, expect for in designated indoor areas.
