Abreu hopes to be back in Sox's lineup Friday vs. Yankees
Jose Abreu missed the three-game series against Minnesota with a sore left ankle.
The Sox's first baseman hopes to be back in the lineup Friday night against the Yankees.
"Just keep our fingers crossed," manager Tony La Russa said.
Out since late March with a hamstring injury, outfielder Adam Engel is getting closer to returning.
"There's a plan I think by the first of (next) week he may go to (Class AAA) Charlotte and start playing. It's just a question of how many at-bats, so he's making progress."
