Car burglar shoots Bolingbrook man

A man was shot Monday night during a car burglary in Bolingbrook, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 11:46 p.m. on the 600 block of Cambridge Way.

The victim, who was shot in the abdomen, told police he was in his residence when he heard a noise outside and saw a light was on in his vehicle. He said he grabbed a handgun, went to investigate and found people burglarizing his vehicle. One of the burglars shot at the victim, who returned fire, police said.

No one is in custody, and the case remains under investigation. The resident was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
