St. Emily Class of '21 Celebrates Ribbon Day
When graduation nears, St. Emily eighth-graders receive a class ribbon to wear with their cap and gown. Most years, the Ribbon Day ceremony occurs during morning Mass, followed by an 8th grade sightseeing trip to Chicago. With field trips canceled due to the pandemic, Ribbon Day took on a new look, with Mass, and special on-site activities. An illusionist appeared to entertain the class, and the Kona Ice truck provided a special treat.
The loudest cheers of the day were heard during a graduation car parade. Students in kindergarten through seventh grade made posters sending congratulations and best wishes to the St. Emily Eagles getting ready to leave the nest. Students then lined the parade route as parent-decorated cars drove the Class of 2021 around the school grounds to cheers including "Go Eagles" and "Eighth Grade!".
