As written last week, the Village of Glenview is seeking candidates for a two-year term as a trustee on the village board.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements of the Illinois Municipal Code for the position, must be a registered voter in Glenview, and must have lived in the village for a year.
Candidates should submit a resume and a statement of interest that includes knowledge and skills a candidate would bring to the board and why they should be considered.
Applicants can mail that information to the Village Manager's Office, 2500 E. Lake Ave., Glenview, IL 60026, or email it to lisag@glenview.il.us. The deadline is May 17.
The Village board of trustees meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays each month. Members also participate in budget meetings, strategic planning and other workshops and public hearings as needed. They may also attend special events and other events of interest.
Congratulations
Perhaps local athletes and their parents may remember Maine South graduate Ali Kilburg. Now a junior at Loyola, she's a defender on the women's soccer team. On April 16, the Missouri Valley Conference announced its 2020-21 all-conference team, and Kilburg made first team. On Sunday, she helped Loyola win its third straight MVC title in a 1-0 win over Valparaiso.
Kilburg has earned all-conference notice each season in college. She made the all-freshman team in 2018, and was an honorable-mention all-conference pick.
Kilburg was a second-team all-conference selection her sophomore season.
Construction season
The Village of Glenview has a nifty feature on its website pertaining to construction projects.
An interactive map of the 2021 capital improvement program (CIP) shows the location and type of each construction project, along with information on village construction projects for the next four years.
Below that map is a list of 2021 public improvement projects, from street resurfacing to Glenview Road water main replacement and 12 other projects. People can also fill out a form online to receive email updates on these projects.
To find these sites, visit www.glenview.il.us. Go to the Traffic & Transportation menu and select "Construction Projects" in the drop-down menu.
Drug drop-off
The Glenview Police Department is sponsoring a drug take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24.
People can bring unused or expired prescription drugs, including controlled substances, for proper disposal at the village police station, 2500 E. Lake Ave. Needles, syringes, liquids and inhalers are not accepted.
