Fire damages Woodridge house

A fire Wednesday morning rendered a house in south Woodridge uninhabitable.

Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District firefighters were called at 10 a.m. to the house on the 8100 block Gatewood Lane by a neighbor who saw smoke coming out of windows.

The fire started on the lower level of the house, according to a news release from the district.

Nobody was home at the time.

The cause has not been determined. A village building department representative declared the 52-year-old house uninhabitable.

Firefighters from the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District and the Downers Grove and Lombard fire departments assisted.
