Jump into spring with D214 Community Education classes

After getting through a cold winter during a pandemic, many people are ready to get out of the house, spring into fun and explore a new interest.

There are so many new District 214 Community Education classes to discover this spring, including in-person and online classes.

New online culinary classes include Fresh Rice Spring Rolls, Meal Prepping Made Easy and Spanish Paella. In Meal Prepping Made Easy, participants can learn to save time and prepare delicious and healthy dishes. Students will make two types of dinners, chicken teriyaki and pepper steak.

"They will learn simple recipes that are very flavorful, and that the whole family will enjoy," said culinary instructor Jen Paleracio, about her upcoming culinary classes, Fresh Rice Spring Rolls and Meal Prepping Made Easy.

New health and wellness classes have been added this spring session, such as Mineral Mastery, Understanding Stress & Building Resilience in the Face of Change and Uncertainty, and Meet the New Meats: Plant-based Meat is Going Mainstream. Other new spring classes include Be Safe Online, Google Basics, Google for Work and Volunteering, Sewing 101, Watercolor Painting, and Core Aquatics Swimming.

Kids will have a blast this summer at various camps including the Discovery Camp at Forest View that features unique activities based on a weekly theme, and Nuts & Bolts Camps which include Exploration in Manufacturing, Exploration in Coding, Exploration in Graphic Arts and more. The camps are not open for registration just yet, but the previews in the spring brochure will explain all the fun that is coming this summer!

Stay active this summer and meet other people while exercising in several fantastic fitness classes including badminton, pickleball, zumba, chair yoga, deep stretching, and belly dancing for fitness and fun.

"An exercise class will help you move and feel better in everyday life," said Sue Garcia, who is teaching several fitness classes this spring. "It is also important for good mental health to stay social and interact with people. Joining an exercise class with help to keep a routine, give you something to look forward to and break up the monotony of the day."

This spring, a partnership with Black Rocket allows D214 Community Education to provide high quality online STEAM classes such as eSports Apprentice - Streamers and Gamers, and Minecraft Modders.
