Glenview in 60 seconds

Nicely done

In an open letter to members of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, retiring executive director Betsy Baer issued a goodbye.

Her last day at the post is March 31. Deputy executive director Meghan Kearney will succeed Baer, a Glenview resident, in the position.

"I find it hard to believe that I am retiring in a week. Ten years have flown by and we have accomplished so much," Baer wrote.

"While this last year has been so difficult, I don't want any of you to forget what we created together. We have moved this chamber forward, doubling in size. We connected with our residents showing them the importance of our business community. We have demonstrated to our village the strength and value of Glenview businesses and have created some great partnerships. We have made a difference!

"And we did it while having fun together. We are connected and we are a wonderful, caring support system for each other. It has been so exciting to work with you all to define and expand what our chamber - Glenview's business community - could be.

"I appreciate that I have had this opportunity to get to know so many wonderful businesses and wonderful people. As I step in to my new future (which will include as much traveling as possible), I want to thank you all for these years together," she wrote.

Just wait until next season

In final polling Associated Press for the top 10 teams in boys basketball, the Glenbrook South Titans placed in a tie for ninth with Glenbard West in Class 4A. With a record of 15-1, Morgan Park earned the top spot.

Coach Phil Ralston's Titans finished 16-2 on the season, losing only to No. 2 Evanston and No. 7 New Trier.

A pair of Glenbrook South juniors, guard-forward Nick Martinelli and point guard Cooper Noard, each earned all-conference honors in the Central Suburban League's South division. Glenbrook North guard Ryan Cohen, only a sophomore, drew all-conference honors as well.
