Aurora man sentenced to 10 years in sex assault of child

A Kane County judge has sentenced an Aurora man to 10 years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault of a girl.

Judge David Kliment said at the sentencing hearing Tuesday that he saw no signs of remorse from Jammal J. Drane.

Drane, 35, of the 800 block of North Lake Street, will have to serve at least 85% of the sentence.

He will also have to register for life as a sex offender.

He received credit for 1,028 days he has been in jail.

A jury convicted Drane in October of sexually assaulting a child younger than the age of 13, whom he knew, between January and October 2017.

Drane could have been sentenced to as few as 6 years in prison or as many as 60. Prosecutors requested a 20-year sentence.

The Kane County Child Advocacy Center conducted the investigation.
