Entries due soon for inaugural Lake County Maker Faire contests

The inaugural Lake County Maker Faire may be taking place April 17, but entries for two of its contests are due by Friday, March 12.

Design a Logo - Start with a three-inch circle and select your favorite red and blue media. It could be crayons, colored pencils or graphic design software, your choice! Make sure to include the words "Maker Faire Lake County" somewhere in your design. This contest is aimed at all students 3rd grade and up, as well as community members.

Design a Game Tile using 3D Modeling - Do you ever wish you could redesign your favorite board game? Well, we've decided to tackle one of our favorites, Settlers of Catan. So far, we have a plan for the ore and the brick tile. We would like your help in designing the next one. How would you envision the sheep tile? Is it a rolling field of green or perhaps a single stylish sheep? The contest is open to students from Grade 6 through community college.

Taking part in a competition is not required to participate in the Maker Faire itself so mark those calendars and explore all the maker goodness in April!
