GLENVIEW IN 60 SECONDS
Candidate Forums
The League of Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe will present a series of remote candidate forums for local contested races on the April 6 consolidated election ballot.
Village of Glenview residents may submit questions for the candidate races by email to lwvglens@gmail.com.
On March 4 (the question deadline is March 2) the forum will deal with the Northfield Township supervisor, assessor and clerk positions.
March 6 (question deadline March 4): Northfield Township trustees.
March 6 (question deadline March 4): Village of Glenview trustees.
March 13 (question deadline March 11): Glenview School District 34 school board, West Northfield District 31 school board.
Due to the large number of candidates running for the Glenview High Schools District 225 school board, a modified forum format will be held March 7 (question deadline March 5).
All forum candidates will meet remotely using the Zoom platform. Forums will be prerecorded without an audience. Moderators will be from outside the boundaries of the contested race.
Recordings will be posted on the League of Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe website, lwvglens.org, within 24 hours of the forum for on-demand viewing.
Village of Glenview residents may submit questions for the candidate races by email to lwvglens@gmail.com no later than two days prior to the forum to which they apply. Forum questions will be selected from those submitted. Questions should also include which race the question pertains to and the home address of the sender.
Great cause, great talent
Keshet, which for 36 years has provided programs for children and adults with intellectual challenges, whether in the Chicago area or through international consultation and training, will present its annual fundraiser, "Raising Voices," from 7-8 p.m. March 4. This year it will be held remotely.
In addition to raising critical funds, Raising Voices will include musical performances by the Keshet Inclusive Choir with the Chicago Children's Choir, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, pianist Luke Greenebaum, the Ravinia Ramblers Trio and Kodi Lee, winner of "America's Got Talent."
The event also will honor Keshet supporters Bob and Amy Greenebaum. They've supported Northbrook-based Keshet for 25 years, since their son Luke entered its kindergarten program in 1996.
Tickets for the fundraiser run from $50 individual tickets to a $600 "elite" ticket. Sponsorships are available at $5,000 and $2,500 levels, and people may also simply donate to Keshet.
After purchasing tickets, a text message will be sent with the link to Raising Voices 24 hours beforehand and just before the event.

Camp dash
The Glenview Park District broke out its summer program registration information on Monday.
Camp begins June 7 and will be offered in pods of up to 15 campers and two counselors. Due to the small pods, spots will be limited
Resident priority registration began Feb. 22, and nonresident registration starts March 1. Those who register before March 15 have the option to pay in full or with an installment plan. There is a program for families who need financial assistance for camp programming.
The park district is bringing back Camp Ice Cool at the Glenview Community Ice Center, plus field trips, open swim and swimming lessons for some camps.

Glenview Connect
At 7 p.m. March 3, the Glenview board of trustees will host the latest session in the Glenview Connect series emphasizing downtown and corridor development strategies.
This session is a virtual workshop examining Glenview's downtown "spark sites." It will review initial design characteristics, opportunities and constraints that will impact economic development before breaking into small group discussions.
Also, there is still time to fill out the Glenview Connect survey, which takes approximately 20 minutes. The survey closes March 7.

Diaper up
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church's Women's Guild No. 35 will soon hold its annual Diaper Drive March 13-20.
Last year, the guild collected more than 14,000 diapers, which were distributed to OLPH sharing parishes, the Northfield Township Food Pantry, the Maryville Crisis Nursery and Catholic Charities. Diapers are among goods not covered by food assistance programs.
The drive's greatest need is larger-size diapers, pullups and "overnights."
When the time comes, drop off diapers at 1213 Spruce Drive, Glenview. Guild No. 35 has also established an Amazon wish list at bit.ly/OLPHDiaperDrive.
