Northern Kane County Chamber recognizes inspiring community businesses

The Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce recently announced the recipients of its 2020 Awards of Excellence.

The individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty during the challenging pandemic year are: Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township; Dundee Township Rotary Club; Ernie Gamino, Edward Jones Investments & Financial Services; First American Bank; Fox River Public Library District; KMA Sleepy Hollow; Studio 232 Design; and The Chubby Bull Frog Bar and Grill.

"We are pleased to honor these recipients who went the extra mile last year in helping others throughout our community," said Melissa Hernandez, president, Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce. "From feeding children and keeping them busy with activities to online yoga classes to benefit FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville, we are grateful to all of them for their continued inspiration."

The Northern Kane County Chamber usually holds an annual awards dinner to celebrate members and the chambers accomplishments.

In lieu of a live event, the chamber held a virtual meeting with a successful online silent auction. It recently held a virtual Zoom annual meeting to inform membership of goals for 2021.

Chamber chair Tiffanie Young of Northwestern Medicine thanked membership for their support in 2020 and outlined the 2021 chamber goals board members positioned at a fall retreat: membership retention; financial resiliency; and board membership connection and diversity.

In addition, Young expressed appreciation to outgoing board members Kristi Kozar of Polynt Composites USA Inc. and Patricia Mierisch of Gilberts for their years of service; new board member attorney Matthew Karras; and incoming chair elect Jay Bennett of Edward Jones Investment and Financial Services.

The Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce is an advocate for business interests by identifying and following the needs of the business community through leadership, education, development, support and promotion.
