Discover Symphony offers student scholarship

The Discover Symphony, the reconstituted Park Ridge Civic Orchestra, is offering a $1,000 scholarship to area high school senior instrumentalists. Candidates must be committed to the role of music in the community and continuing musical studies at the college level.

The scholarship is underwritten by the J. Mark Waltz Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scholarship recipients are not required to be a college music major, but must continue the study of music at the college level.

Auditions are 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. Area graduating high school senior instrumentalists should submit the required application, essay and recommendation letter, which is available at discoversymphony.org.
