Pets you've adopted during quarantine

In 2019 we had to put down our dog of 12 years. She had been rescued, too. We began looking for another rescue dog. In 2020 the pandemic hit, so in-person visits to shelters were suspended. Still, my wife, Sharon, kept looking via internet postings. Finally, in September, we found a dog that looked like a good fit, though there were issues. Charlie looked almost like our previous dog, though with shorter legs. We were able to foster Charlie, as the shelter would not release him for adoption until medical issues were resolved. His history was not known; only that he came from a shelter in Texas. He arrived here at the shelter needing canine teeth surgery. He also had heartworm disease. He was released for adoption in October. So far he is doing well in his new surroundings. Charlie is a senior dog (8-plus years), so we are hoping to give him a few more quality years.
