Juvenile charged in Palatine stabbing
A juvenile has been charged with attempted murder in a Jan. 12 stabbing in Palatine.
The stabbing took place about 8:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of Bayside Drive.
Detectives determined the stabbing stemmed from a prior incident involving drug sales between the people involved, who then arranged to meet and fight each other, Palatine police Cmdr. Bruce Morris said.
During the fight, the juvenile pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, a 20-year-old man, multiple times in the upper body and arms. The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was in stable condition Monday afternoon, Morris said.
The juvenile was charged with one count of attempted murder and was taken to the Cook County temporary juvenile detention center in Chicago to await a court hearing.
Meanwhile, Morris said he didn't have an update Monday regarding any arrests in the stabbing of a 28-year-old man during a domestic dispute Jan. 5 in Palatine.
